Lecture Phase

I went to New York with a broken heart longing to know the truth...who am I? And more importantly...who is God and do I really want to devote the rest of my life to

serving Him?

During this phase I had 12 different teachers, one teaching a new topic each week. Each taught me how to trust the Lord and how to pour out to His people. I started my DTS

living with 12 staff members and 19 other students...but when I walked off that campus I left with a family. Together we laughed and we cried, we prayed and we acted. Each

person left a different mark on my heart. I love my Ywamily!

There were 2 phases to my Discipleship Training School (DTS)

Outreach Phase

During this phase, we put everything we had learned to work. For 3 months, we traveled to Washington DC, New Jersey, back to New York and then off to Costa Rica. Throughout my stay in each of these places God did many different things. We prayed for the broken, lost, unborn and unreached. We worked with children who where at risk. At Risk Children are kids who are living in poverty, abusive homes or living with special needs. We also did a lot of work with the Anti- Human trafficking movement. I think the biggest thing I learned during this time was it’s not only about doing work for people or only telling them that they need Jesus. Being a true missionary is being lead by the Holy Spirit to do both! By meeting the physical needs and showing each person true genuine love and respect, we revealed the love that Jesus has for them. For some, including myself, it affected their destiny. I saw a lot of bad things, but I witnessed the effects of love, grace, and compassion. This experience healed my heart and answered the questions I had. He is worth it
